What if Puppets is seeking a  “Puppet Fabricator”  to design and build puppets for touring shows, education programs, video, and custom puppet clients. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in puppet fabrication.

 

This position is a one year contract, with the potential to become full time permanent. The position will collaborate with the Director of Puppetry Arts and our staff of artisans on design and build and will report directly to the Shop Manager.

 

Successful candidates will have confidence in:

Hand and Machine Sewing

Patterning with Foam and Fabric

Foam Carving

Operating Power Tools

Fabricating 3D objects from 2D designs

Basic Painting Skills

Time management Skills

Ability to Collaborate with a Group

 

Additional Preferred Skills:

Interest in Puppet Mechanisms

Character Design

Puppet Performance

 

PAY AND BENEFITS

• Hourly Rate:  $20 per hour

• Health, Vision, Dental Benefits eligible after 30 days of employment

• Simple IRA - match up to 3% of employee contribution

 

HOURS:

Primarily M-F, 9:00-5:00 pm.
